Youth & JYPF news

THANK YOU
Our thanks to John Ogletree and the SYPF youth group for the Mardi Gras pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday and to Kevin Westberg and Marilyn McQuade for all their help. A good time was had by all.

A total of $671.00 was donated as a free-will offering; one-half will go to Operation Hope and one-half to Bishop Curry’s fund for mosquito netting in Mozambique, Africa.
Thank you for your generosity and support for these very worthy causes.

Youth Readers Wanted
As you know, the first Sunday of each month is Children & Youth Sunday. How wonderful it is when the youth of our parish lead the worship on this special Sunday! We are in the process of compiling a list of parish youth who would like to read the lesson or Prayers of the People on the first Sunday of the month. The only requirements are that readers be in 2 nd grade or older, like to read in front of a group of people, are good readers, and will show up when scheduled. Once we have compiled a list, we will have a training session and make the schedule for the year. If you are interested in this, please contact Pamela Pellegrini at church, 259-3013 x14, or send an email at PamPell@lycos.com. There will also be a sign-up sheet on the door to my office on the 2nd floor.

Camp Washington
Camp Washington, an outdoor ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut, has offered young people a unique Christian community experience surrounded by nature since 1917. Located in Litchfield County at the foot of the Berkshire Mountains, the camp offers a place where individuals of different backgrounds and perspectives can come together in celebration of God’s love in a community that plays, learns and worships together.

The camp has miles of woodland trails for hiking, swimming and canoeing facilities, large playing fields for various sports, a basketball court and an outdoor pavilion and chapel for reflection and environmental awareness. We encourage you and your children to find out more about this awesome camp by checking out their web site at www.campwashington.org.
