Prom Dress Recycle and Expo

The 2010 event took place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 9, 10 and 11.

Each spring the Silver Lining Prom Dress Expo features hundreds of gorgeous gowns provided free to teens looking forward to proms and other formal occasions. The array of brand new dresses is augmented by stylish like-new fashions lovingly contributed by women in the community who want to give their gowns a second chance to dance and share their memories with girls who might not be able to afford the pricey garments.

Donations are collected at St. Paul's, Fairfield; Christ Church, Stratford, and at dress drives organized throughout Fairfield County by our project partners, Wilton Women's Club. Only fashionable, up-to-date styles that are clean, ready to wear and appropriate for teens are accepted and shown in the spring collection. St. John's Episcopal Church in Bridgeport provides the venue where mahogany and stained glass meet satin and lace and for three days ordinary girls are transformed into fashionable femmes.

Remainders from the Expo are available following the event at no cost to clients at the Community Closet, located in the FSW building, Clinton Ave, Bridgeport. A written referral from a social service organization is required.
