Cold Weather Clothing & Coats Wanted
Donate your gently worn coats, clothing and shoes in all sizes for families served by Covenant to Care for Children and our companion parish in Bridgeport. Many folks do not have their own laundry facilities. Easy care items are preferred like hoodies, leggings, t-shirts and polos, sweatshirts and pants. Please launder coats when possible. Contact Alberta Vargas.
Food Pantry at St. Luke's and St. Paul's
Donate cold weather comfort food (stew, rice & beans), protein rich items (tuna, sardines, canned chicken) and nutritious kid-friendly options (PB & J, oatmeal, canned spaghetti). Grocery Gift Cards (which may be ordered and donated through our parish office) are an ideal way to contribute, particularly during the holidays.
Covenant to Care "Adopt a Social Worker"
Every two years St Paul's renews its solemn agreement "to advocate for and provide direct assistance to Connecticut's children who are neglected, abused and/or impoverished." One way we do this is by supplying specific items requested by our "AASW's". There are two families in need of furniture and additional household items. Please contact Linda Shackleton.
Playdate with a Purpose
We are looking for Mothers of young children who are interested in cooking rice or tuna salad for the community supper once a month. We meet in each other's homes on a volunteer basis and bring our young children to play as we chop, cook and enjoy each other's company. Cooking usually occurs the Monday or Tuesday morning before the supper. If interested, please contact Lynn Shavinsky.
Operation Hope Cooking
We cook a meal for 50 people on the first Monday of every month. We cook the same meal of kielbasa with peppers and onions, dessert and coffee. We meet two hours once a month starting at 9:30 am. Children are welcome. There is a financial commitment of $10-$20 a month to purchase ingredients. Volunteers are needed especially during the summer when group members are away on vacation. Contact Tracy Osborne.
