A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
Sunday, December 21st: At the stroke of 5:00 pm, the St. Paul’s choir will process into the nave of our church and the voice of a single treble chorister will ring out, “Once in royal David’s city stood a lowly cattle shed…” And we will hear once again the message of the angels. The choir will sing familiar and well loved carols and anthems. New music for the service this year includes a carol by the British composer Judith Bingham and a work by Jan Sandström. The great hymns of Christmas, arranged with soaring descants, will be sung by the choir, congregation and YOU! This service is one of the musical gems crowning the season in Fairfield County. A Yule Café at 4:00 pm in the Parish Hall will precede the service. Please spread the word, arrive early and enjoy!
Community Supper: Tuesday Dec. 23rd
Please bring hot dogs and buns to St. Paul’s Kitchen no later than noon on the 23rd.
Christmas Eve Toy & Gift Collection
Share the joy of the holidays with our companion parish, San Lucas y San Pablo, whose parishioners celebrate Dia de los Tres Reyes (Three Kings Day) with gifts for children. Wrap a toy indicating on a tag the appropriate age and gender of the recipient and bring your gift to any Christmas Eve service or on Sunday, December 28th. Consider Target, WalMart, Dunkin Donuts or other gift cards for teens.
Food Pantry Update
St. John's Food Pantry distributed 3,057 pounds of food at Thanksgiving and St. Luke's/St. Paul's distributed 4,099 pounds, for a total of 7,156 pounds of food that provided meals for 5,963 individuals. Rev. Alba Perez of St. Luke's/St. Paul's stated, "the deepest and silent gratitude in my heart was thanks because of all the efforts, support, and collaboration in our mutual and standing decision - of all of you - we touched those in need today, making something marvelous in their lives." Let's continue to support our food pantries with cold weather comfort food, protein rich, and nutritious kid-friendly items. Grocery Gift cards are an ideal way to contribute particularly during the holidays.
Boys 3T/4T winter clothing, men’s clothing, especially jeans, boys’ clothes size 8 and up, and a toy box are needed. Contact Linda Shackleton if you can help.
